Slave to the Bean

I've been trying to figure out the causes of my lethargy lately (spiritual, emotional, financial, etc.) which has led me to quite a bit of self-analysis.

And I've come to the conclusion that I'm going through caffeine withdrawal.

No spiritual crises are apparent- got the big spiritual thumbs-up from the paternal creator type guy/gal last time I checked with him to see if it's OK if I got creative with my paperwork to the government regarding their ripping off of me and mine (ie. taxes)...no guilt there and a hearty pat on the back to "go for broke" so spiritually I checked out OK. Guess the big guy didn't like the budget either.

Nope nope nope, it comes down to one change that I made - I switched to what I thought was higher-test stuff: 'spresso's and 'mericano's (although the stupid, we're so-hip coffee place here in downtown Penticton is calling them "Canadiano's" - Loooooooosers!) and what I thought was unreliable folk-wisdom turns out to be true: the doohickey that forces all the steam through the beans does in fact produce a brew with less caffeine than the corporate swill that the company provides in unlimited quantities in the lunchroom, even though it tastes stronger/better.

So now, even though I'm drinking equivalent volume, I'm getting drowsy from the lack of the power-me-up portion of the crappy brown liquid that I can no longer drink due to it tasting like the mud coming off my tires in winter in comparison. I'm either going to have to go through the DT's so that I can operate without constant caffeine stimulation (which explains why people had such trouble following my 80 words/minute speech patterns and why I'd wake up at 3am with my heart doing 95 beats per minute) or I'm going to have to start taking caffeine pills...

I guess free coffee is worth basically what you pay for it...

    folk-wisdom? FOLK-WISDOM? I've been telling you this for years AND it's a scientific fact.hmmm

Non posso capire come questa gente non sanno niente. Bevano quell'acqua piscia, brutta, piena di acidità e caffeina, purtroppo insistano che è meglio, o la stessa, che il buon caffè Italiano. Povera gente... rolleyes
